HRD minister Arjun Singh is stable

Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on Wednesday night with an acute stomach ailment, is in stable.

Singh was admitted to the hospital at 2200 hours on Wednesday and has been diagnosed to be suffering from acute Cholecysitis (stomach ailment) associated with Diabetes and cardio-artery disease, breathing trouble and kidney problem.

The 77-year-old minister is being looked after by a team of doctors headed by Dr T K Chattopadhyay, Head of the Department of General Surgery and Dr Chandralekha, HoD, Anaesthesiology, hospital sources said.

"The minister is in a stable condition and is being closely monitored. He is having food and all his vital parameters are working normal," they said.

However, sources said, it would take at least a week for Singh to move out of the hospital.

President Pratibha Patil sent a bouquet to Singh wishing him speedy recovery.
