The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 216 crore to strengthen security post-Mumbai terror attacks, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has said.

"We have allocated Rs 216 crore for security and more funds will be made available if necessary," Chavan told reporters on Monday. Chavan released a booklet 'Mumbai Shapath' (pledge), expressing the government's resolve to fight terrorism.

"The first batch of Force One, an elite force of 204 commandos, would be operational from tomorrow and the Centre has also started an NSG hub at Mumbai," Chavan said.

A Quick Response Team (QRT) has been prepared to deal with emergency situation and the police force is now better equipped to deal with any such incident," the chief minister said.

On strengthening of coastal security, Chavan said 12 new police stations had been set up in coastal areas and 36 speed boats would patrol the coast.

A team has been trained at the Intelligence Training Organisation at Pune, Chavan said. All security agencies have better communication now, he said.
