Typically if a groom suffers a medical emergency the day of his wedding, the event is postponed. However, that was not the case to be when bride went ahead and married a wedding guest in her groom’s absence.

Jugal Kishore, 25, had to be rushed to a hospital in India after suffering an epileptic seizure, the Times of India reports. But when Kishore recovered and returned to the wedding venue, he was dismayed to find his 23-year-old bride named Indira had already found another beau, the Times of India reports.

Indira and her family had reportedly been upset that they were kept in the dark regarding her groom’s medical condition, and promptly announced that she would happily marry a guest at the wedding after Kishore fell ill. That guest turned out to be a man named Harpal Singh, the brother-in-law of Indira’s sister.

The controversial decision did not go down well with the rejected groom’s family, who reportedly tried to force Indira to change her decision.

The rejected groom also tried to make his would-be bride change her mind, claiming he would not be able to face his friends following the embarrassing episode.

Several guests at the wedding, which took place in the city of Rampur, were arrested after a fight broke out.
