Amit Shah wants Union ministers to hold daily media briefings

January 02, 2015 15:19 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah is likely to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get five Union ministers to undertake daily media briefings about the BJP and the workings of the Union government.

This move is likely due to Shah’s dissatisfaction with the print and television media coverage of the BJP government and its performance, sources say.

Apparently, Shah feels that his government’s performance is not being properly presented in the media.

Sources say that although many BJP spokespersons have articulated the party's line, negative publicity is still prevalent in the media. This move is intended to neutralise the negative impact and also to project a more pristine image of the government before the public.

Amit Shah, who is keeping an eagle eye on the Union government’s performance, wants to discuss the subject with the prime minister and with senior cabinet ministers before he has a structured discussion with the parliamentary board of the party.
