Amidst hectic political activity, CBI grills Yeddyurappa

Even as he was set to rejoice the appointment of his man, Jagadish Shettar as chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation for questioning.

Yeddyurappa has been in the CBI office since 6.30 pm even as his party discusses the appointment of a new chief ministerĀ in New Delhi.

Yeddyurappa is being questioned by the CBI in connection with the illegal mining and land de-notification case.

He is expected to be questioned till late in the night.

sources say that they would like to complete the questioning on Saturday night itself.

"It would all depend on how honest or forthcoming he is," sources said, adding, "If we need to question him further we may call him in tomorrow (on Sunday) as well."

Yeddyurappa, however, cannot be arrested as he had been granted anticipatory bail by the high court.

His two sons and son-in-law too are accused in the same cases and have been questioned earlier.

The CBI has to submit its report on this case to the Supreme Court by July 30.
