Amar Singh will be proved innocent: Digvijaya

September 08, 2011 23:04 IST
Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Thursday expressed sympathy for the beleaguered former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh who was arrested in the cash-for-vote case two days ago.

"I have full sympathy for Amar Singh and I believe that he will be proved innocent," Singh told reporters at Raghogarh in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh.

He also strongly condemned the blast outside the Delhi high court, adding that people should not politicise the issue of terrorism. Terror activities should be curbed with iron hand and fundamentalists of any community should not be spared, he said.

When asked about Anna Hazare, he said that he respects him a lot, and would like to congratulate the social activist for two things -- he forced the

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh people to wear white caps instead of (the usual) black ones, and hold the national tricolour in hand, in place of RSS's saffron flag. Singh denied that he had ever described Hazare as the mask of the RSS.
