Two persons -- one of them a Bangladeshi and believed to be linked with a Gujarat blasts suspect -- were arrested on Friday by a team of the Delhi police in Bhaktinagar area near Siliguri in West Bengal.

Five crude bombs and one country-made fire-arm and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the duo, who were picked up from Santipara under Bhoktinagar police station area in Jalpaiguri district in the wee hours of Friday, Inspector General of Police (North Bengal) K L Tamta said.

The arrests were made after the Delhi police interrogated one Muhammad Hakim on July 25 in connection with the recent serial blasts in Gujarat who had divulged information about few of his associates in Santipara.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (crime) Sitaram Sinha told PTI that one of the arrested persons was a Bangladeshi national Yessin Muhammad (25) and the other Muhammed Maniuddin (42).

The police detained five persons from the area on Thursday night but three were later released while the two were put under arrest.

Serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad on July 26, killing 54 people and injuring several others.
