The Central government on Wednesday gave no time frame for fresh trials of the country's Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Agni III.

"You will get to know when we go ahead with new trials," Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee told newsmen on the sidelines of a function to release the new Defence Procurement Policy in New Delhi.

The first test firing of the surface-to-surface missile with a range of over 3,000 km ended in failure on July 9

when, after a smooth take off, it plunged into the sea far short of its intended target.

The minister also refused to make public the Defence Research and Development Organisation probe into the causes of the failure of the missile saying, "It would not be in public interest."

Asked if the missile had a design flaw or if it were technical faults that had led to the failure, Mukherjee said, "The probe was for self-correction only."
