There are eleven members in the Standing Committee including four union ministers (Sushma Swaraj, Jaitley, Naidu and Gadkari) and seven chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The Standing Committee is mandated with processing all matters pertaining to Centre-State relations before they are taken up for consideration in the Inter-State Council. It also monitors implementation of decisions taken on the recommendations of the council.
