Advani and BJP to patch up in a matter of hours

Last updated on: June 11, 2013 16:35 IST

The ongoing crisis in the Bharatiya Janata Party revolving around the resignation of veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani from party posts may be resolved within hours.

A close confidante of the 85-year-old leader told that the current crisis in the BJP will be resolved by tonight or by early Wednesday morning.

The source said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh General Secretary Bhayyaji Joshi and the outfit’s representative S Gurumurthy are trying to diffuse the situation and find a final solution.

The confidante also sought to clarify that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s elevation as the campaign chief for the 2014 Lok Sabha election was not the reason behind Advani’s decision to step down from the party posts.

Modi is not the reason why Advaniji chose to resign. Instead, it was because of his resentment towards how the system in which the party operated, the source said.
