Suspended driver of Karnataka Express succumbs to injuries
The suspended driver of the superfast Karnataka Express,
who was held responsible for the July 27 train accident, succumbed
to injuries at the Escorts hospital in Faridabad on Tuesday morning.
The driver, N H Elliff, suffered serious head injuries when
the Delhi-bound Karnataka Express rammed into the Himsagar Express on Sunday.
Eliff, a goods train driver, was given charge of the high-speed
Karnataka Express just three and a half hours before the accident as the regular driver did not turn up for duty at the designated
station.
With this the toll in Sunday's train accident rose to 13.
Meanwhile, rail traffic on the accident-affected route has been restored.
