No-trust motion admitted against Assam govt

An opposition sponsored no-confidence motion against the 18-month-old Assam ministry led by Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was admitted today by assembly speaker Ganesh Kutum today.

The speaker informed the house that the time and date for the discussion would be fixed at a meeting of business advisory committee of the House later in the day.

Meanwhile, all the three opposition tribal groups in the House staged a walkout after the speaker disallowed a censure motion against the chief minister.

Autonomous State Demand Committee member Haliram Terang and others brought forward the censure motion, which was supported by the members of the Bodoland State Movement Council and the Progressive Democratic Front.
