Laloo says he will align with Congress, JMM

Rashtriya Janata Dal president and former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav says his party would forge an alliance with the Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the coming election.

Yadav, who was released from judicial custody on Friday afternoon, said he appreciated what the Congress and JMM had done during his ''bad times.'' "Their support cannot be forgotten," he declared, without revealing what both parties had done for him.

He also thanked former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, Bahujan Samaj Party president Kanshi Ram and Bharatiya Kishan Kamgar Party chief Ajit Singh for their tactical support.

Yadav also denounced the Janata Dal trio of Ram Vilas Paswan, Sharad Yadav and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda who had "stabbed me in the back and tried to finish my political career."

The RJD leader, who broke away from the Janata Dal in July, said formal talks with the Congress and other parties on an electoral alliance will be held next week. Laloo Yadav is likely to meet Congress president Sitaram Kesri in Delhi on Sunday.
