A Cabinet Committee on Security meeting, chaired by Prime Minister, has been convened to discuss the emerging scenario in Pakistan.

This is the second such meeting the prime minister will chair on Pakistan.

Foreign Minister, Home Minister, Agriculture Minister and Defence Minister have been invited to attend the CCS.The National Security Advisor, along with chiefs of three Armed Forces, will also be present.

Sources said NSA has prepared a paper on the recent developments in Pakistan and its impact on India.

Before Prime Minister leaves for London [Images] on April 2, there will be two more CCS meet to discuss India's policy towards Pakistan.

"We do hope these issues will be resolved by their own system and by their own mechanism," Mukherjee told media-persons after the CCS meeting when asked to comment on the developments in Pakistan. "Pakistan is an important neighbour. I hope that all its internal matters will be resolved by its leadership amicably and peacefully, in its best interests," Mukherjee said while refusing to comment on the situation.

"It is for the people of Pakistan and the authorities to decide how they resolve their own internal problem," the External Affairs Minister said. "It is more essential that there is a stable government (in Pakistan), responsive and responsible and also a government which is in a position to tackle the terrorist activities there and the terrorist activity emanating from Pakistan," he said.

He underlined that India has always been interested in seeing strong and stable regimes, more so in its neighbourhood, so that the entire region can grow and develop together, for the common good of its people. "This is even more relevant to Pakistan to enable her to fight against elements in the country that are utilising the terror infrastructure there and engaging in terrorism within Pakistan and outside," the External Affairs Minister said. "We want peace, amity and development in all neighbouring countries, particularly in the context of Pakistan," he said.
