March 05, 2009 23:14 IST

The scheduled travel of Karwan-e-Aman, the cross Line of Control [Images]  peace bus between Srinagar [Images] and Muzaffarabad was cancelled on Thursday in Srinagar.

An official spokesman said that Thursday's travel was cancelled on the request of Pakistan authorities which had cited administrative reasons for the cancellation.

"The Pakistani authorities had informed the army on Wednesday evening that due to some administrative problem, they would not be able to send the bus or receive passengers from this side on March 5, 2009.  Accordingly, the plying of the Karwan-e-Aman was cancelled. The bus will now run on the next Thursday," the spokesman said. The cross-over of passengers at LoC on this road takes place every Thursday.

Meanwhile, in view of the inconvenience caused to the passengers who had to travel from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad today, the state government has brought the matter into the notice of the External Affairs Ministry to further take it up with the Pakistani counterparts, according to the spokesman.
