Share your water woes!
July 02, 2009

The monsoon is playing truant and the taps have gone dry. India is reeling under a massive water shortage that is threatening to blow up into an acute crisis.

The Mumbai [Images] municipal corporation recently announced that it might be forced to supply water only on alternate days to the millions of homes in the metropolis.

Residents of Delhi [Images], suffering under the dual blow of power and water shortage, recently took to the streets to voice their woes. Several states including Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh [Images] are mulling the introduction of water rationing to tide over the crisis.

Across the nation, the story is not very different, and exposes how, six decades since independence, India has not become free from the vagaries of the monsoon.

Share your water woes with rediff.com and tell us how the water crisis has affected your everyday life. Also suggest ways in which the government can deal with the impending water emergency, for now and forever.
