The Maharashtra Police's chargesheet in the Malegaon blast case has raised questions on the nature of the CBI probe into the Nanded explosions that may have ignored the early signs of self-styled right wing groups getting armed.
      
The voluminous chargesheet filed by the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra Police has clearly stated that Rakesh Dattatraya Dhawade, one of the accused in the Malegaon case, had made arrangements and facilitated training to the
accused persons in the Nanded bomb blasts in 2006. Six people were killed in the Malegaon explosions while the Nanded blasts claimed the lives of two persons.
    
This has raised questions on the CBI probe of Nanded blast as the agency appears to have not taken due cognisance
of the statement of one of the accused which indicated first signs of arming of some of the self-styled right wing groups.Though the CBI has now reopened the probe in the case and taken custody of Dhawade, an internal assessment was being done as to why the agency had failed to take note of such a serious development earlier.      

The premier investigating agency was tighlipped but sources said Dhawade figured earlier as well during the Nanded
probe but was not quizzed properly at that time.
      
The decision to reopen the case was taken by the present CBI Director Ashwani Kumar after improper probe was detected during the investigatanion into the Malegaon case.

The ATS has chargesheeted 14 people, including Lt Col Shrikant Purohit. The CBI had chargesheeted ten people in the Nanded case. But sources said it has not been able to trace the leads, as yet, provided by some of the accused who claimed to have admitted their role in the earlier cases.
