Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh [Images] on Tuesday favoured a judicial inquiry into the Batla House gun battle in which the Delhi [Images] Police shot dead two suspected Indian Mujahideen [Images] terrorists.

"In democracies, it is always better to make things clear," Singh said. Singh also indicated that even the prime minister was thinking over the issue.

He declined to elaborate about his talks with the prime minister on the issue, saying it was privileged.

Several organisations, including the Samajwadi Party and the Jamia Milia Islamia University, where some of the suspects were enrolled, had already demanded a judicial probe in to the incident.
