The Samajwadi Party which has performed miserably in the last Madhya Pradesh [Images] assembly elections suffered another jolt on Sunday, when nearly two-dozen of its leaders resigned from the party's primary membership protesting against appointment of Jhansi member of Legislative Assembly, Deepnarayan Singh Yadav as the state party president.

"We are resigning from the party in protest against the appointment of Deepnarayan Singh Yadav as state party
president," enraged leaders of the party, led by former party general secretary K R Yadav and secretary Yadunath Singh Yadav told media-persons in Bhopal.

Deepnarayan was appointed the state party president after former president Narayan Tripathi quit from the post on
moral grounds after the party's dismal performance in the assembly elections.
