The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcemen arrested two Indian pilots on federal marijuana charges in Texas.

Moby George Thommenkudy, a native of Cochin in Kerala [Images] and Snigdh Anurag of Ranchi in Jharkhand were arrested August 26. Both lived in Spring, Texas.

Reports said they were arrested after the ICE found two suitcases with 49 pounds of marijuana aboard their private plane.

Both remain behind bars in McAllen. US Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos denied bond to them.

The two piloted a private plane from Spring, Texas to the South Texas International Airport in Edinburgh. Then they flew from Edinburgh to McAllen's International Airport where they allegedly picked up two suitcases at the McCreery Aviation gate, according to media reports.

The two began to taxi to the runway when federal agents approached and searched the plane.

They told the officials that they were flight training but agreed to pick up the marijuana for their neighbor "Luis Carlos" who told them he would pay for renting the plane.

Thommenkudy got a private pilot license in 2008. Anurag has a student pilot license that was issued in June 2008.
