E-mail threatens blasts in Kerala on Independence Day

Police are investigating an e-mail message, circulated to the media on Friday, warning that bombs would go off all over Kerala [Images] on Independence Day.

The message was put out in the name of one 'Zakir Hussein' claiming to be the commander of 'Militia Malabar Mujahadeen', police sources said. The message claimed that it was being sent from a country in the Middle East, the sources said.

Inspector General of North Zone Tomin Thanchankari has been entrusted with the investigation. Meanwhile, security has been tightened across the state on the eve of Independence Day, the sources added.
