Five persons were killed and 10 others injured, when a bus rolled down into the Chenab river at Malnoi village while it was on its way to Jammu from hilly Bhaderwah town on Monday morning.

The police said rescue and relief parties were rushed to the spot, and initial reports said five passengers had died and 10 others were critically injured.

A senior police officer said the injured have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Scores of passengers have been killed and wounded due to road accidents in the Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu region, because of extremely tough road conditions and sometimes because of overloading and negligence by the drivers.
