Rescue operation on to save trapped trekkers in Uttarakhand September 20, 2008 17:11 IST Nearly 37 trekkers, including some Australians, were trapped on Kalindi-Badrinath route due to inclement weather and snowfall since Friday, are now safe and efforts are on with the help of Indo-Tibetan Border Police to bring them back to Joshimath, official sources said. Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to hit Uttarakhand [Images] with the higher reaches receiving heavy snowfall since Friday. The higher reaches of Munsairi and Johar Valley in Kumaon region and Gangotri and Yamunotri areas in Garhwal region were receiving heavy snowfall since Friday which brought down the temperature considerably in the hilly areas and plains, including Dehradun.
