Islamist leader Maulana Fazal to head Pakistan's Kashmir panel September 16, 2008 19:42 IST National Assembly member Maulana Fazal, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, was elected chairman of the special committee on Kashmir on Monday, officials said. Rana Ishaq, a member of National Assembly from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, expressed reservations over Fazal's election. Ishaq wondered how the Maulana would be able to project the 'Kashmir issue' at the international level with Britain reportedly having banned the Jamiat leaders entry into the country. The members of the Parliamentary committee demanded that suitable material on Kashmir issue should be prepared by the secretariat for distribution among people inside as well as outside the country, the statement said. It was also urged to hold briefings on important aspects of the issue, including construction of dams by India.
