Central team to survey flood-hit Bihar A Correspondent in Delhi | September 01, 2008 12:46 IST
A Central team will survey flood-affected areas of Bihar on Monday and Tuesday. The team will comprise the joint secretaries of six Union ministries -- home, agriculture, finance, health & rehabilitation, civil supplies & food and social welfare. The team will assess the damage and submit a report to the Prime Minister's Office by the end of this week. The composition of the team has been worked out, a special aircraft is expected to take them to Patna first on Monday evening. To work out these details, Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta had a detailed meeting with Cabient Secretary K M Chandrasekhar on Monday. The Centre wants more motor boats to ferry the drowned. T Nand Kumar who assumed office as secretary of Union Ministry of Agricultre also joined the discussion. Nand Kumar is a Bihar cadre IAS officer. Hence, he knows the real problems the state faces as of now.
