October 22, 2008 15:20 IST
The police on Tuesday moved an application before the magistrate's court in Vikhroli seeking the cancellation of Thackeray's bail in the case, a day after he was arrested from Ratnagiri in connection with the attack on north Indian candidates by MNS activists during a railway recruitment exam on Sunday.
"The Vikhroli court has issued a notice to Raj Thackeray asking why his bail should not be cancelled as he has allegedly flouted the condition laid down by the court while granting him bail," Sameer Nagare, a lawyer for Thackeray, said.
The court has sought a reply from the MNS leader by Thursday. After being granted bail by a magistrate's court in Bandra on Tuesday, Raj was taken into custody by the Dombivali police in Thane in another case and spent the night in a police lock-up.
