2 Jaipur blast accused brought to Ahmedabad for questioning

Two persons accused in the Jaipur blasts have been brought to Ahmedabad [Images] for interrogation in connection with the serial bomb blasts that rocked Ahmedabad on July 26.

"We have brought two Students Islamic Movement of India members from Jaipur [Images] for interrogation in the serial blasts case. The two accused were present at the terror training camp in Halol near Vadodara," joint commissioner of police, heading the probe team, Ashish Bhatia said on Friday.

Atiq-ur Rehman and Mehandi Hassan, arrested by the Rajasthan police from Jaipur in August, were produced in a Ahmedabad court by the city Crime Branch on Thursday after obtaining a transfer warrant from Jaipur.

Their names were revealed during interrogation of some of the accused, Bhatia said.

"We will be seeking more information from them on how many more people are involved in the Ahmedabad blasts and whether any of the city blasts accused were involved in Jaipur blast," he said.

Bhatia said the team was planning to bring Afzal Usmani and others arrested by the Mumbai police to Ahmedabad once their interrogation was over.

Earlier, while seeking remand of the blasts accused, the crime branch has submitted in court that Usmani and others were present in Ahmedabad on July 26 and were in contact with some of the blasts accused, presently under police custody.

In all 18 people, including mastermind Mufti Abu Basher, have been arrested in case of serial blasts and planting of bombs in Surat [Images].

SIMI [Images] leader Safdar Nagori and four others, have been brought for interrogation from Madhya Pradesh [Images]. Also one Raziuddin Nasir, has been brought from Belgaum Jail in Karnataka, for questioning.
