The father of the nun, who was allegedly raped during the Kandhahmal riots, has left it to Goddess Durga to get her justice.

"I am busy with preparations for the Dussehra festival. Let the Goddess punish the culprits," said Ignace Barwa, whose second daughter was allegedly raped during a mob attack at K Nuagauon of Kandhamal on August 25.

Normalcy returns in Orissa, but scars remain

Ignace, a Christian farmer who is a native of Talsara in Sundargarh district, had been staying with his wife Rezina at Dakara village under Dhama police station area for the last 27 years.

The couple has two sons and three daughters, including the nun. The family members are not aware of her whereabouts.

The 29-year-old nun had undergone training at an institute at Jharsuguda before she was sent to Kandhamal.

"Ours is the only Christian family in the village," Rezina said, adding that they participate in all Hindu festivals and have never faced any discrimination.

What is wrong in Kandhamal?

"It is very painful for a mother to know that her daughter has been raped. I pray to God that no mother on earth should face this fate of mine," she said.
