To help people with information against the backdrop of the terror strikes in Mumbai, various agencies have provided helplines:

The Taj Mahal Hotel [Images] has set up two helplines to help with information. They can be accessed on 091-22-66574322 and 091-22-66574372.  The local toll-free number is 1800 111 825

Trident Hotels (formerly The Oberoi) too has set up a helpline that can be accessed on 09810956888 and 091-11-23890505/ 23890606.

The ministry of external affairs has set up a control room to reply to queries. It can be reached on the following numbers: 91-11-23015300, 91-11-23012113 and 91-11-23013537. The fax number is 91-11-23018158.

The US State Department has provided Americans who believe that a relative or friend has been affected by the attacks in Mumbai a number to call: 1-888-407-4747

Here are the number of some hospitals where the wounded may have been taken:

J J Hospital: 091-22-23739031

St George's Hospital: 091-22-22620240

Bombay Hospital: 091-22-22067676

RT Canadians looking for info on relatives in Mumbai can call 1-613-996-8885 from Canada [Images] and 1-800-387-3124 from elsewhere.

The Brazilian helpline number is 0-9820686143.

Australians requiring consular assistance should contact the 24-hour consular emergency centre on +61 2 6261 3305. A round-the-clock control room has been set up at the embassy to respond to any query related to the terrorist attacks at Mumbai. You can call on 202 232 2795/  202 232 2796 or email controlroom@indiagov.org

If you are a British national in Mumbai who has been affected by the attacks and need assistance, call +91 11 2419 2288. If you are in the UK and concerned about friends or family, please call the FCO Response Centre on +44 207 008 0000. You can also call the British Council Library in Mumbai at 91-22-22790127.
