Two children were seriously injured in an explosion that occurred in a garbage dump on Friday afternoon in front of Rajkiya Inter college, Sector 22, Noida.

The blast occurred when the children Sonu and Golu, both rag pickers, were scouring the waste.

Both of them have been admitted to district hospital, Noida SP Ashok Tripathi said.

The police have called sniffer dogs and anti-bomb disposal squad, and sealed off the whole area.

Police personnel were trying hard to identify the nature of the explosion, since the incident has created panic in the area.

Noida has been receiving calls threatening to blow the various important centres of the city.

However, police sources claimed that it was not a bomb blast but unused crackers which were thrown in the dustbin.
