Pragya Singh Thakur is national president of Vande Matram organisation and was arrested in connection with Malegaon blast. Speaking on Marathi signboard issue, strongly raised by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena, Deshmukh said there is a law making it compulsory to have signboards in Marathi along with other languages and give priority to locals. However, these laws were not implemented properly, he added. When asked about the possibility of conducting competitive examinations in the state following an attack on north Indian students by MNS during railway recruitment examinations, he said such things will not take place again.
