The Dima Halam Daogah, a militant group also known as 'Black Widow', on Monday declared a unilateral ceasefire for a more than a month in Assam's North Cachar Hills and asked the railways to resume its suspended train services and construction work.

The DHD-Jewel faction publicity chief Faiphang Dimasa told local news television channel News Live that his outfit had decided to declare unilateral ceasefire till June 25.

Dimasa also asked the Northeast Frontier Railway, which suspended its services after some of its employees and workers engaged in broad gauge conversion work were killed by it last week, to resume its train services in the district.

The North Cachar Hills along with Tripura, Mizoram and parts of Manipur, were facing a food crisis with both train and truck services suspended.

The militant outfit also asked the railway workers to resume their construction work.

The Black Widow had killed 13 persons since May, when 12 of its cadres were killed in an encounter with the army in the district.
