Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh completed its first year in office on Tuesday even as opposition Congress came out with a 'chargesheet' accusing it of having failed on all fronts and threatened a 'jail bharo' agitation from July 1.

Releasing a 16-page chargesheet Ek Saal Mein Badhaal Pradesh Bana Uttar Pradesh, UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi told media persons that it was a compilation of election promises made by Mayawati and ground realities.

She alleged law and order in the state had become bad to worse under Bahujan Samaj Party's rule and atrocities against women, Dalit and poor have gone up drastically.

"It is ironical that the state government is going to celebrate its one year in the office tomorrow ignoring the fact that corruption, crime and prices of essential commodities are at its peak," Joshi said.

Claiming that 346 persons, including 219 Dalits, had committed suicide in Bundelkhand region of the state alone, Joshi said: "This fact exposes tall claims of the state government that it is the saviour of Dalits."
 
Flaying the Mayawati government for alleged misuse of government funds, Joshi said it had demolished stadium, library and museum in the name of Dr Ambedkar constructed at the cost of over Rs 137 crore.

Joshi alleged that Mayawati was protecting ministers with criminal background and pointed to allegations against former minister Anand Sen in connection with the murder of a law student in Faizabad and minister Vedram Bhati, whose name figured in a triple murder case in Noida.

Seeking point-wise answers on all these issues raised in the chargsheet, Joshi said the Congress would resort to jail bharo agitation if it did not get satisfactory replies from the state government.
