Four bank robbers beaten to death by villagers in Bihar

Four bank robbers were beaten to death and another seriously injured by local villagers in Bihar's Buxar district on Friday afternoon, police sources said.

"Four bank robbers were beaten to death by villagers and two were arrested by the police," Buxar SP A K Jain told rediff.com.

He said three bank robbers were beaten to death and another seriously injured succumbed later when they were decamping with booty looted from a SBI [Get Quote] branch at Chausa in Buxar.

Police officials said the villagers overpowered them and beat them to death. The robbers shot dead a security guard of the bank when they entered the bank.

The police recovered two motorcycles and a country-made revolver from the robbers.
