I was better than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and managed to evoke more response than him, said Bharatiya Janata Party leader Smriti Irani [Images], also known as Tulsi of the popular soap Kyun Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Smriti was in Bengaluru to campaign for the BJP. Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening, she said Dr Singh's visit to Bengaluru had no impact.

"None of us felt that the PM was in town. When a prime minister visits a place, there should be a buzz, but on Thursday it was lacking completely. Why did he have to address a gathering behind closed doors? Probably he was scared that the general public may attack him on issues pertaining to inflation and terrorism. This only goes on to show that he was scared to face the public. Unlike the PM, I chose to interact with the public in the open as I have nothing to be scared of," she said.

Smriti said that during her campaign she got the feeling that the BJP had an edge over its rivals in the state. She said she is confident of the party getting a majority in Karnataka.
