The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has criticised Akhilesh Das for resigning from the Congress soon after he was removed from a ministerial post.

"By resigning from the Congress soon after he was removed from the ministerial post, he has proved that he was in the party merely for his personal interests," Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshi told PTI.

"We had information that he had been hobnobbing with some other parties soon after he was removed from the ministry and it seems that a deal has now been struck," Joshi said.

Criticising Das for charging Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi [Images] with encouraging a 'coterie', she said that till a few days ago he had been praising Rahul.

She recalled how he had been given important responsibilities by the party and claimed that he owed everything to the party.

On Das' allegation against her, Joshi said that time would prove how she is working for strengthening the party in the state.
