The United States has said that it will work with Pakistan's new government on a host of issues, including the problem of terrorism, which threatens both nations.

"As is appropriate, we will now begin working with that (new) government on the whole host of issues that are there in the US-Pakistani relationship," US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice [Images] said on Sunday.

"That includes, by the way, both issues concerning terrorism, which threatens Pakistanis -- we've seen it threaten Pakistanis, we've seen it result in the assassination of Bhutto," she said while on her trip to the Middle East.

Stressing that Pakistan was facing the problem of terrorism, Rice said: "We can work together on it. It also, by the way, is economic assistance and education assistance and all the other things. So we have the same goal here and we're going to work with them concerning it."

The US Secretary of State also lauded President Pervez Musharraf [Images] for taking off his military uniform to help his country return to civilian rule, saying "We are very pleased that that has taken place."
