With the body of one more person recovered from the debris of the four-storey under construction building in New Delhi, the toll in the mishap climbed to eight on Monday.

The body was recovered early today by the rescuers as rescue operations continued for the third day, the police said.

"The body of a middle-aged man has been recovered from the site, where some more persons are suspected to be trapped under the debris," they said.

They also said that the identity of the victim could not be ascertained immediately.

Cranes and earth movers were trying to clear the rest of the rubble from the site where seven people, including two children, were killed and several others injured when the building collapsed at New Usmanpur locality in Seelampur in North-east Delhi on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the owner of the building Deepak Garg is still absconding, police said, adding that efforts were on to nab him.
