Tibetan marchers halted at Sikkim border March 24, 2008 15:40 IST
"The protesting monks raised anti-China slogans from the other side of Rangpo checkpost in West Bengal and demanded permission to enter Sikkim to take forward their peace march upto Nathu La," checkpost in-charge B B Subba told PTI in Gangtok. Heavy police deployment has been made at the check post to prevent Tibetan protesters from entering in the Himalayan state territory, he said. Senior police officials, including DIG (Range) Akshaya Sachdeva and the Superintendent of Police M S Tuli were camping at the spot to monitor the situation, Subba added.
