Suspected militants belonging to the banned United Liberation Front of Asom shot dead three Hindi-speaking workers at a brick kiln in Dibrugarh district of eastern Assam late on Sunday night.

Police informed that a armed group of militants barged into a brick kiln near Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district at the dead of night and opened indiscriminate fire at workers.

Three workers were killed in the attack while three others were injured. The police and the army have launched a search operation in the area following the incident.

The banned ULFA has once again stepped up its sinister activities all over the state by triggering blasts in civilian locations prompting the army and police to intensify operations against militants especially in eastern Assam areas.
