Rambabu Paswan, a commander of the Bihar Military Police, was allegedly shot dead by a BMP jawan in Sasaram jail, police sources said on Wednesday.

Paswan had been posted in Sasaram jail. "BMP commander Rambabu Paswan was found dead inside the jail premises.  He was shot twice," police sources said.

The police are trying to find out the motive behind the murder. However, according to unconfirmed reports, some BMP jawans were angry and unhappy with Paswan as he had refused to grant them leave.

Sasaram Superintendent of Police N H Khan told rediff.com over telephone that it was a case of murder. "I have asked the Deputy Superintendent of Police to inquire into Paswan's murder," said Khan.

However, jail authorities claimed that Paswan had committed suicide.
