Rains wreak havoc in West Bengal

Four people have died in the floods, while over 10,000 people were rescued from Narayangarh, Pingla and Sabang by the Army and civil defence forces on Wednesday, he said.

The body of Ramesh Kanojia, Delhi-based business associate of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's ex-secretary Gautam Basu, was recovered in Midnapore today morning.

Altogether seven people, including Basu and Kanojia, were carried away by the rising tide of Keleghai river near Poktapole on June 17 and the latter's body was recovered about 2000 yards from the site of occurrence.

West Midnapore district Superintendent of Police R Rajshekharan said two others - Basu and another person, who were carried away by the tide along with Kanojia, were still missing.
