Gujjars should be given ST status: Mulayam

Extending full support to the Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said that the community should get Scheduled Tribe status.

"The Gujjar agitation is fully justified...they should get the reservation facility," he said.

Yadav said that the repression of agitating Gujjars and firing on them should end immediately.

He regretted that politics has been reduced to personal rivalry today.

Criticising the state government, he said Dalits are being harassed and the poor subjected to immense hardships and being deprived of foodgrains and potable water.
