Bomb defused in Surat again

One more live bomb was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) in Varacha area of Surat [Images] on Monday, a senior police official said.

"BDS have successfully defused a live bomb found on Monday in the residential society of Varacha area in Surat city and all the circuits were disconnected," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Surat, V Chandrashekhar said.

"The contents of the bomb have been sent to the forensic laboratory for testing," he said.

A packet of ammonium nitrate (700-800 grams), a packet sharpnels, two detonators, one battery, and a circuit were found wrapped in a newspaper along with the bomb, he said.

The Surat police on Sunday defused a live bomb from near a hospital. It had also recovered a large amount of explosives from two cars in the city.
