In yet another ceasefire violation on the Line of Control in the Jammu region, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing at Indian positions Saturday.

A defence spokesman in Jammu said miscreants fired three rocket propelled grenade rounds at Nangi Tekri posts in the Krishna Gathi area in the Poonch district on Saturday morning.

"The miscreants disappeared after firing the RPG rounds," the spokesman said.

He said Pakistani troops later resorted to heavy firing at forward posts in Krishna Gathi in clear violation of the bilateral ceasefire announced by the two countries in November, 2003.

"The firing from the Pakistani side continued for two hours. Our troops didn't retaliate. However, there was no damage on our side," he said.

He said the firing was intended to give cover to the infiltrating militants in the area.
