Describing the trust vote as a "suitcase victory" for the government, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday demanded a House Committee probe into allegations of a "cash-for-vote scam" against the ruling UPA.

"This scam has jolted the soul of the nation," Swaraj said.

"The nation must know what action is being taken against the accused. The government might have won the trust vote but democracy was the loser."

Swaraj named Amar Singh [Images], Ahmed Patel and Reoti Raman Singh to be allegedly the three main persons behind the money offered to the three BJP MPs before the confidence motion in Parliament.

She said the Speaker should set up a committee to inquire into the role of Reoti Raman Singh, who is a member of the Lower House, in the matter while a RS committee should probe charges against Patel and Amar Singh, members of the Upper House.

The final report must be presented in a month's time, Swaraj said.
