The lone Lok Sabha member from Mizoram, Vanlalzawma of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), will abstain from voting on the confidence motion in Parliament.

"The MNF political affairs committee had a meeting this evening at Aizawl and decided that the party will abstain from the trust vote," Vanlalzawma said.

He said Chief Minister and party chief Zoramthanga called up and conveyed the party's decision to him.

"I will follow the party decision tomorrow," he said.

The political affairs committee on Saturday entrusted Zoramthanga to make a final decision on which side Vanlalzawma would vote after consultation with the MP.
