"We were outside the ashram covering the bandh, when Bapu's supporters came out and attacked us," Gopi Ganghar of Aajtak television channel, who sustanined injuries in the incident, said. "They also damaged equipment and outdoor broadcast vans of the news channel," Ganghar, who was later hospitalised, said. Bodies of the two boys, 11-year-old Abhishek Vaghela and 10-year old Dipesh Vaghela were found on the banks of the Sabarmati river on July 5. They were reported missing from the ashram a few days before their bodies were found.
