Around 700 CPM activists led by state secretary M Y Tarigami assembled at Pratap Park, just outside the Congress headquarters, and raised slogans against the nuclear deal and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images].

As soon as Tarigami finished his address, the activists took to the Maulana Azad Road for the rally. However, the rally was disrupted by Congress workers, leading to a brief clash.

The situation was brought under control by police and paramilitary forces deployed in the area. There were no reports of any injuries in the clashes.
