J&K: Jawan shoots 2 colleagues, attempts suicide

In yet another case of fratricide, an army jawan allegedly shot and seriously injured two of his colleagues and attempted suicide at an army camp in Akhnoor area of Jammu district, official sources said on Tuesday.

Lance Naik Brijesh Kumar of 510 battalion of Army Service Core opened fire at two of his colleagues, sepoys Sajjad Ali and Taman Jay Yadav, late Monday night.

Kumar later shot himself in an attempt to commit suicide.

All three soldiers are in a critical condition, the sources said, adding that senior army officers have rushed them to military hospital.

Army authorities have ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident, Defence Spokesman Col S D Goswami said.
